Are you where you need to be in terms of spiritual growth and development?

"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought with a price. Therefore, honor God with your body." -- I Corinthians 6:19

How's your spiritual health? Your spiritual health is of utmost importance when it comes to living a fulfilling life. Most people do not conduct an effective and periodic measurement of spirituality, according to the results of a 2009 study conducted by the Barna Group. Pastors interviewed for the study said that spiritual immaturity “is one of the most serious problems facing the Church.”

It is true that we worry a lot more about our physical development than we do about issues related to growing deeper in our faith.

“Americans have an almost insatiable curiosity about themselves and how they stack up against others. Yet, in the spiritual realm, that same level of curiosity is much less apparent,” the study’s authors said. “Perhaps it is because of the lack of tools for such measurement or even the absence of motivation to grow or to deepen their relationship with God.”Spiritual health is paramount. But your physical health is also very important to God. Physically healthy Christians are in an optimal position to carry out God's will in the world. Eating the right foods, getting plenty of physical activity, and guarding your mind against harmful information are important ways to stay healthy.

As important as spiritual health is, our physical health cannot be ignored. It's not a question of either or, it's both and. So while it's hard to get a gauge on how well we're doing spiritually, it's easiers to assess our spritual health. Take the quiz below:

Are you eating at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables a day?

Are you physically active a minimum of 30 minutes each day?

Are you avoiding sugary foods, fats, and foods high in cholesterol?

Are you guarding your body against activities  and substances that are harmful to you and to others?

Are you getting enough rest (at least 7 hours of sleep each night)?

Do you avoid tobacco, illicit drugs and abuse of alcohol?

If you answered no to any of these questions, it's never too late to start changing your lifestyle and improving your health. It's never too late. The Bible is clear about our need to take care of our physical selves.  Follow the links on this page to help you stay informed on ways to improve or maintain your health.  After all, YOU are God's temple!

management
Some people, especially seniors, suffer chronic pain even though they don't have any injuries. Common complaints include headache, low back pain, cancer pain, arthritis pain, and pain resulting from damage to the peripheral nerves or to the central nervous system itself. Some pain is psychogenic, which means it's not due to past disease or injury or any visible sign of damage inside or outside the nervous system
